"Over the many years I have known him, Tom has proven himself to be a great coach, trainer and mentor for our girls. He builds a strong rapport with his players maintaining high discipline levels while keeping it fun and rewarding. Tom has excellent technical and tactical knowledge and is able to effectively transfer this knowledge to his teams maintaining a strong focus on the long term individual development of his players versus the short term demands of a top academy level environment."
"Tom has been a wonderful coach for our daughter. Even though he was her coach for a short time, her game grew exponentially. He understood how to get the most out of her and help her work on her weaknesses, without killing her confidence. He supported the whole person and not just the soccer player, which is rare in coaching today. From individual to team training, Tom is one of the top trainers in the state. I would highly recommend Tom as a trainer for any player who is looking to improve their individual skills as well as their understanding of the team game."
"As a past soccer player, coach, club member and soccer parent, I can’t speak highly enough about Tom Worthington’s coaching techniques and professionalism. His strength in teaching technically as an individual and collectively as a team are next to none. He is very patient and has the ability to be tough yet nurture their confidence and love for the game. The growth of my daughter as a player as well as her team over the years as a whole is amazing and I credit that to Tom. He has been by far the best coach we’ve had. I would highly recommend his training to anyone interested in improving their skills individually or as a team."
"Coach Tom coached me for over 5 years and throughout that time I was able to form an incredible bond with him that I will cherish forever. Throughout many other sports and many other coaches, Tom is by far the best I ever had. With his coaching I was able to grow as a player and as an individual person. Not only is Tom an incredible coach but a genuine person who leads teams from the sideline with passion, respect and great knowledge for the game. Tom is the type of coach to not focus on the score line of games, but on how we would possess the ball, which should be the main focus of the game. Tom led my team to win many tournaments, qualifying for elite showcases and attending nationals in Colorado. All these accolades truly symbolize what an amazing coach Tom really is. Without Tom being my coach I do not know where I would be today in my soccer career but I will forever be thankful for him."
"My daughter Gabriella started playing for Coach Tom's PDA ECNL RL team in the fall of 2018. To date, he has been the best coach she has had in her playing career. He is also an excellent trainer as well as a mentor. Gabriella's development under Coach Tom has been outstanding. We see improvement each week. She continues to elevate her play and is building the confidence that is needed to play at the next level. In addition to coaching her at PDA, she also trains with him at T.WO Touch Soccer. If your son/daughter is not playing for or training with Coach Tom, you are missing out. There is no one better."
"Tom Worthington is one of the most talented and best all-around coaches we have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. We have 4 children, all of whom have been involved in playing competitive club soccer for over 10 years each and so we have experienced close to a dozen coaches and 3 separate clubs. Tom is by far the single most talented, knowledgeable coach on an individual and team basis we have ever experienced. He is highly respected and has the highest confidence of every parent and player on his team. His knowledge of the game, his experiential skills, his team coaching, his individual coaching and most of all, his emotional intelligence to understand how to motivate, train, teach, inspire, excite, and improve each separate player as part of larger team goals is incredible. We unequivocally and wholeheartedly recommend Tom as an individual coach, for small group coaching, and as a full squad club team coach at the highest levels of the game."
"I had coach Tom for 3 years and he was the best coach I’ve ever had. He’s the type of coach that wants you to ask questions so that you can get better as a player. Every time we lost a game physically he would always say that it isn’t about kicking the ball as far as possible it’s about keeping possession well, which is how soccer should be played. I know personally when I started out with Coach Tom I was the weakest on my team. But with him coaching me I felt as though I improved so much. My team made it to Nationals with Tom as our coach and he helped our team succeed in getting there."
"It’s rare to find a coach who puts the emphasis on developing players and learning to play the correct way, rather than just worried about game results. Coach Tom really cares about teaching players and being a facilitator of the game, letting the game itself be a teacher for his players. His teams always try to play the right way and he allows his players to experience and learn from the game. He's a great teacher of the game!"
"Both my daughters had the privilege to play for Tom. Tom has an excellent balance of discipline and technical instruction that helped balance both our girls both physically and mentally. He appreciates hard work and skill and has a proactive coaching technique that pushes the players to their highest capability. He also helps the players truly understand the mental aspect of the game as well as how to demonstrate dominance of the game with the utmost professionalism. He builds true “teams" that appreciate each others ability. Truly one of the best coaches they have had the pleasure to train with."
"I started playing for Coach Tom when I went to PDA in 2018. He is the best. I have learned so much from him in a short amount of time. His practice sessions are great and when I leave practice or training I can't wait for the next one. He also takes the time to teach us the game. I am looking forward to many more years of training and playing for him."
“Our daughter loves playing for Coach Tom and says he is the best she has ever had. He not only coaches the proper fundamentals and techniques but also focuses on increasing the girls soccer IQ and the importance of understanding of the game from a team perspective.”
"Coach Tom Worthington has absolutely transformed the way our daughter has played. Not only does Coach Tom focus on strong technical skills at a pace and intensity not found in most training sessions, he ensures that our daughter understands how those technical skills fit into her tactical understanding and decision-making. Each training session simulates game situations so that players are always thinking and problem-solving and learning. He balances genuine praise with individualized, targeted feedback which continually motivates our daughter to reflect on her play and find ways to push herself harder. In just a short time, Coach Tom's approach to training has made our daughter a more confident, smarter, and more skilled player."
"Tom coached my daughter for only one year but he was a very positive influence on her. She loved playing for him. His interactions with players and parents were always professional and respectful. Tom was well organized, communicated clearly and always kept the best interests of the players in mind. His training sessions were efficient and productive. His coaching in games was tactically astute and focused on player development, as opposed to trying to win at all costs. I highly recommend Tom as a youth soccer coach."
"Tom defines the word “Coach”. He teaches the proper way to play the game while being a true leader on the sidelines. His knowledge of the game and development of players are second to none."
"Tom is truly an exceptional coach. He is responsive, professional and talented. Tom served as head coach of my daughter's club team for several years. She particularly appreciated his insightful and constructive teaching style. She and her teammates developed greatly under his guidance."
"I have known Tom for over 10 years as he was a coach and trainer for my daughter. You will not find a better person to mentor your child. He has impeccable credentials and is open minded and fair. He fosters a great environment for student athletes to develop and I have seen first hand how he has developed many players to reach their potential and go on to be competitive at every level."
"I cannot speak highly enough of Tom Worthington. He is a top tier, professional coach who loves the game and the kids he coaches. When teaching a skill, he takes time to make sure the player understands the ‘how’, and more importantly, the ‘why' of the skill. He truly wants his players to become the best they can be. My daughter is talking with college coaches and will no doubt sign with a college team because of the soccer IQ and drive she learned from Tom."
"Coach Tom coached my STA 02 daughter for two years. He is extremely knowledgable about the game and offers players great technical advice, but also lets them make adjustments on their own without over coaching. This is what I found helped my daughter become a more mature and self-reliant player. Coach Tom is a very hard working coach and always wants kids to be the best they can be. I also think he would be a great coach for younger players because he is not by nature a yeller like some coaches."
"Coach Tom truly employs the psychology of coaching young women. He facilitates confidence and passion in his players. Coach Tom has a keen ability to train each player personally, while assuring team collaboration. This is the second year our daughter is being coached by him, and we have seen an immeasurable difference not only in her technical and tactical skill abilities, but also in her love for the game. The soccer opportunities are countless, inclusive of curriculum, 3v3, futsal, and overall weekly training. Leadership begets leadership, and this is what we are glad to see on our daughter’s team."
"Coach Tom is a great coach who has helped my soccer development. As a dominant left-footed player, I really appreciate Coach Tom training me to strengthen my right foot to increase my overall skill level. He is a very understanding coach and if I make mistakes he gives constructive feedback so I can improve my game. He is very positive along the sidelines of the field, constantly giving us feedback, showing his support, and empowering us to make smart decisions regarding ball movement. Overall, it is a wonderful opportunity to train, grow, and develop under the leadership of Coach Tom."
"I cannot express enough admiration for the commitment and dedication of Coach Tom. He is by far one of the best trainers and coaches I have had the experience of coaching against, in addition to having my former players as part of his team dynamic. His coaching acumen lends a lot to players being able to develop their individual game while being guided by the fundamental principles of soccer; pass & move. His ability to impart the various concepts surrounding positional play and roles within the team dynamic is astounding. This manifests itself in the player's on field performance, technical ability and confidence. I have been fortunate to have played the game and Tom's ability to share his knowledge with those that are new to the sport would be a challenge for most coaches. Tom has not only mastered this, but his passion and enthusiasm for helping players develop is seen the most when sharing his experiences and knowledge. Getting players to visualize and effect these principles whether in trainings or games is an art. Tom you are truly a gift to the sport, we wish many players and parents would be as fortunate to have the same experience as us."
"I had come from a team where I mostly sat on the sidelines due to my lack of skill from other training sessions run by previous coaches. But, when I switched to Tom’s practices I knew it was the best decision to help my future as a midfielder. With only a few practices both my parents and I had seen a dramatic difference in my mindset/decision making, dribbling, and passing. I have also noticed a positive change in my leadership skills, for I am louder and overall more aware during games. Most importantly...I have grown my passion for soccer immensely, which is one thing other coaches have seen to decline in the past. With all the progress I have seen in my overall gameplay, it is clear that I will not be changing teams anytime soon!"
“Tom Worthington is one of, if not the, finest trainers for which our daughter has played. His depth of knowledge, manner of coaching and patient approach was extremely successful for our daughter and her team. We’d highly recommend Tom for individual skill training and team coaching.”
"As a parent, my main hopes and intentions for my daughter playing soccer are to continue to develop her skill, grow in her self-confidence and have fun in a team environment promoting love for the game. Coach Tom enables my daughter to achieve these objectives on and off the pitch. He inspires her and the team, delivers a balanced focus on developing technical and game strategy skills, and brings an approachable, positive, and motivating spirit. Under his leadership, I’ve seen my daughter grow in every one of those dimensions and her love for the game is at its all time high."
"Coach Tom coached my daughter, Brooke, from middle school through high school. Not only did he teach Brooke soccer skills that helped her elevate her game to the next level, but he also taught her to be a driven and strong young women. Because of coach Tom, Brooke had multiple offers to play soccer in college. She is currently a starter and key player on the Salisbury Women’s Soccer Team. Thank you for everything Coach Tom."
"Throughout my years of playing many sports, I have had a wide variety of coaches, but Tom was by far and away the best. I especially appreciated his patience and positivity, both on and off the field. He put in a tremendous effort to make every player the best that they could possibly be."
"Coach Worthington is an excellent coach both in his technical approach and his demeanor. He is a patient teacher of the game. He is demanding of your best but also understanding that you are developing as a player. I would highly recommend Coach Worthington and loved playing for him."
”I learned a lot about the game from Coach Tom and I’m a better player because of him.”
"Tom Worthington is an incredible trainer and coach. Our family has known Tom for 10+ years as he has trained our triplets (Chase, Cam & Maggie - STA/PDA/LVU/Cedar Stars Academy) along with our son (Cole Reardon, STA/ PDA/NYRB/St. John's University).
Tom has the right tone to lead young minds. I think that's what all fathers want to know. He's got the unique skill-set that a parent wants to see playing out with your sons and daughters. Tom is a pure leader across NJ Women's Soccer, UK & US certified, very compassionate and incredibly knowledgeable. I've been watching Tom take young talented players and make them great college players (& professional players if not already).
From STA to 3v3 to PDA to personal training sessions, Tom has been a huge influence to my family. He's been a success to wherever he lands. We can only hope Tom and his wife continues to remain leaders in our soccer communities and across US Soccer landscape.
He's a wonderful asset to PDA now and I highly recommend him."
"My daughter had the opportunity to play on a team coached by Tom Worthington for several years. Although we were pleased with the team and the coaching, an opportunity arose to play on another team which my daughter accepted. After a little over a year on this other team, she returned to Tom’s team appreciating the quality of his coaching ability and strength of the team.
Having experienced another coach/team was enlightening. For us all. Tom, as a coach, is very talented. He is organized and thoughtful; his practices consist of meaningful drills and team bonding exercises. He not only understands the game of soccer but the dynamics that create a unified and strong team; the “softer side” of
girl’s soccer.
As a parent, I appreciated that he made the girls accountable and expecting 100% effort from each of them. The players received reviews routinely so that they were aware of areas that needed improvement. Tom also was sensitive to playing time issue that all coaches face. He was somehow able to position and combine the girls in such a way that everyone felt as if they received fair playing time without jeopardizing the quality of the game.
Tom was able to bring out the best in his players which is why he has become so
successful."
“As a parent, I have three concerns when it comes to coaching. The first, is my child developing as a player. With Tom, I believe she is. He has a wonderful array of drills that force the girls to use both technical mastery and creative genius. My second concern is whether or not my daughter and the team are having fun and actually enjoying the game, the coach and their experiences. I can say for sure that my daughter is, she enjoys going to training and playing hard for her coach and her teammates. This is a testament to Tom, as he has brought a group of girls from various backgrounds and geographic areas together as a team that plays hard and plays the right way. And this brings me to my third concern, is my daughter's game IQ rising. It is often overlooked when talking about the growth of a player, but I believe Tom's insight, directions and explanations of why they do something has helped her growth in the game. His tactical adjustments in game, the workouts he has them do in training and warmups all are being done for a reason. The girls all understand why they are doing something and it translates to the field when they are matched up against opponents. Tom's coaching style is very easy for the girls to understand, and as a parent, I really couldn't ask for more.”
"Tom is dedicated in teaching players how to get to the highest level of soccer. He is an extremely knowledgeable coach who is very patient and he stresses the importance of developing individual skills while still focusing on the importance of playing as a team. Tom goes beyond being a very knowledgeable and motivating coach. He has a gift for combining a warm and friendly manner with a disciplined approach to training his teams."
"As a coach Tom invests his time in truly understanding each individual player and adapts his approach to help gain the most out of them. He is an educator of the game and takes the time to provide my daughter with feedback, tips, and techniques to enhance her soccer skills to help her reach her fullest potential."
"Coach Tom has proven a great teacher to my daughter. She not only gained valuable technical expertise, but her knowledge of the game has grown immensely under Coach Tom's expert tutelage. Although our soccer paths have since parted, we continue to stay in touch and to us, that is the most valuable asset."
“Tom communicates the complexities of the game to his players in a clear, concise matter that allows them to flourish”
"My daughter has played for many coaches over the years and Coach Tom is one of the best. Coach Tom knows soccer and knows how to bring out the best in players and develop their skills. The players respond well to him and are eager to listen and learn. He has a great personality and the right balance of requiring and expecting players to play at their highest level, while understanding they are still learning and being patient with them when they make mistakes. I highly recommend Coach Tom for anyone who wants to develop their skills and bring their game to a higher level."
"I have known Tom since 2010 in different capacities. When our oldest played for a competing team we played high energy games against one another at a very intense level. Tom and his team were always highly prepared. would see him scouting our games as well as others to ensure his team's readiness - a massive differentiation in coaching styles within youth soccer. All of the girls that played for Tom that our daughter knew were well attended to and were highly networked within the college soccer community. Tom had a big part of the girls moving to the next level. Then there was a bit of a gap between when I interacted with Tom as our oldest moved on to college and our two younger children began to move up. Our other two daughters born in 2003 and 2005 have been at PDA since early days and had some decent coaches. Our 2005 daughter happened to have a very strong coach who also strengthened her technical skills. We were naturally concerned during this transition until we found out Tom moved over to PDA and became our coach. Tom is a straight-shooter who tells it like it is. You always know here you stand and what you need to do to improve. He s a great coach and the girls look up to him and are motivated by his enthusiasm and his fair criticisms. Tom has been our competition and now thankfully our coach and I encourage any parent to consider Tom to be the coach or trainer of their children as well."
